Syahrudin received his bachelor degree in geodetic engineering from Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), Indonesia in 2001 and completed his Master of Applied Science (GIS) at The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2009. He has experiences in spatial data production and evaluation for oil and gas industry as spatial data management engineer, and he also has experiences in hydrographic surveys for off-shore oil and gas industry. In 2005 Syahrudin started to work for Indonesian Government as he took the position as a geomatic staff in Indonesian national mapping agency (currently named BIG, formerly Bakosurtanal) and had been involved in development of Indonesian Spatial Data Infrastructure program.
Syahrudin commenced his PhD at The University of Melbourne in January 2015, and is currently working on improvement of spatial metadata capability to be used in spatial data infrastructures.
